SHEBOYGAN – From lunch on the farm to a search for medicinal herbs, Maywood Environmental Park offers a fun and educational slate of November activities.

List of November events:

OWLS – Older, Wiser, Livelier, Scholars, Friday, Nov. 5, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

This event will take place at Nourish Farms, 100 Alfred Miley Ave. in Sheboygan Falls. The day will begin with a brief introduction by director Ryan Laswell, followed by a half-mile walk through the property, which will include a discussion of the farm’s restoration project and an invasive species removal.

After that, guests will meet back at the Miley barn for a tour of the kitchen, barn and offices. The day will conclude with a fresh and healthy lunch prepared by the Nourish Farms staff. The program is free, but donations are appreciated.

iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation, Wednesday, Nov. 10, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Barbara Holt (RYT-200) leads a guided meditation that will focus on the qualities of peace, well-being, joy, love, kindness and compassion. The practice can be done while sitting in a chair or lying on the floor. The cost of the session is $12, cash or check only. For more information on the benefits of iRest, visit www.irest.us.

LTC student Haley Stuckmann will lead a horticultural program focusing on the healing power of plants. The day will start with a presentation on medicinal herbs, particularly those that can be found at Maywood.

The presentation will be followed by a search through the park for any plant with medicinal properties. Guests should dress for any type of weather and be prepared to explore off-trail areas of the park. The program is free, but donations are appreciated.

Park Director Samantha Lammers leads guests on a November hike. Guests should dress for the weather, and call to confirm the location, since some programs take place offsite. The event is free, but donations are appreciated.
