SHEBOYGAN — Pull up a stool or grab a six pack. Each week we will work with local spots to profile their most popular, must-see drinks and brews.

This week, Josh Joyce with 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. spills the details on their year-round Fresh Coast pale ale.

What key flavors or ingredients are incorporated?

Dry hopped with Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo hops.

Describe the flavor:

Bright and easy drinking with low bitterness. An excellent beer for those that don't think they like "hoppy beers." It's pleasantly hoppy, but citrus and tropical fruit forward, without the bitterness.

Describe the aroma:

Strong notes of citrus and tropical fruits - Grapefruit, orange, mango, guava and passionfruit are the most often identified aromas.

What makes the drink visually appealing?

A light haze and golden color that appears almost radiant in the light. The striking blue colors of the cans and bottles also bring customers in and help tell the story of Fresh Coast.

Inspiration behind the drink?

Being in Sheboygan and along the shores of Lake Michigan, we wanted to make a beer that wasn't an incredibly thick and hazy East Coast-style pale ale or an intensely bitter West Coast-style pale ale. We created a beer with a low alcohol content and low bitterness but packed with tropical and citrus flavors. It's the kind of beer you want to enjoy at the beach, on the lake or at a backyard barbecue and with its low ABV, you can enjoy a few of them responsibly. After all, we live on the Fresh Coast and we think it's something to celebrate.

What other flavors would this pair with?

Pair Fresh Coast with light, bright foods - think white fish tacos with a squeeze of lime and a tropical salsa or a refreshing ceviche. Another popular option is to pair Fresh Coast with spicy foods. Try it with Thai and Indian foods or, for a more traditional option, spicy chicken wings.

Where can customers find this beverage?

You can find 6-packs of cans and bottles as well as 12-packs of Fresh Coast throughout Wisconsin and in the Chicago area at most grocery and liquor stores, the 3 Sheeps taproom and on tap at many bars and restaurants throughout the state.
