SHEBOYGAN – Above & Beyond Children’s Museum has a full range of activities this fall. From continuing programs such as Bring Your Own Baby and Mini Mozarts to special events like Up, Up and Away in the Gardens, Above & Beyond has plenty of fun and educational activities for kids.
Here is a list of programs for Fall:
Up, Up and Away in the Gardens – Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
In this event at Christopher Farm and Gardens, W580 Garton Road in Sheboygan, kids will color and decorate Styrofoam planes, and fly kites with the Strive, Thrive and Be Fit group from the Sheboygan Cancer Care Fund. Early registration is $20 per family/unit and same-day registration is $25 per unit. To register, visit the event page.
STEAM Afterhours – every Wednesday from Oct. 5-Nov. 23, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
This event, which is a collaboration with A Million Dreamz Daycare and Millipore Sigma, will feature a variety of STEAM topics (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) with hands-on activities for kids 3-5 and 6-10 years of age. The cost of the program is $125 for members and $135 non-members. The drop-in session fee is $25 per child. To register, go to the event page.
STEAM Storytime – every Wednesday, Oct. 5-26, 3:15-4 p.m.
This program, which is a collaboration with Mead Public Library and Millipore Sigma, will feature story time led by a Mead librarian and an activity led by a museum educator about the STEAM topic discussed in the book. STEAM Storytime is best suited for kids 3-5 years of age, and costs $8 per family member. To register, visit the event page.
Big & Little Movements – Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 11-Nov. 3, 3:30-4:15 p.m.
Elevate Yoga will lead yoga, movement and mindfulness activities for kids. This program is best suited for children 3-5 years of age, and costs $115 for members and $125 for non-members. The cost covers one child and one parent/caregiver. The drop-in session fee is $25. To register, go to the event page.
Mini Mozarts – every Tuesday from Oct. 11-Nov. 1, 1-1:45 p.m.
In this music readiness program, a museum educator will use “Music for Little Mozarts” curriculum to guide children through singing, listening, movement and rhythm activities using their voices, bodies, and instruments. Mini Mozarts is recommended for kids age 3-5, and costs $35 for one child and caregiver, with a $5 fee for each additional child. To sign up, visit the the event page.
Bring Your Own Baby – every third Thursday, Session 1: 9:30-10:30 a.m., Session 2: 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Parents, caregivers and children will have a chance to socialize, and also learn from Early Childhood Specialists, Progressive Beginnings therapists and Family Resource Center educators. Each month will feature a different topic. The cost of admission is $5, which covers both the child and parent/caregiver. To register, go to the event page.
Sensory Sensitivity Sunday – every Sunday, 2-4 p.m.
Sensory sensitive children and their families will have a chance to explore the museum at their own pace with reduced visitors and adapted exhibits. There will also be a sensory map, sunglasses, headphones and a quiet area. Sensory Sensitivity Sunday is free for members and $5 for non-members. For more information, email info@abckids.org.
