Gracie Grzesk (24) made seven three-point shots in Notre Dame's 89-36 win over Sheboygan North.

SHEBOYGAN – Gracie Grzesk scored 35 first half points to lead the visiting Notre Dame Tritons to a dominant 89-36 win over the Sheboygan North Golden Raiders in Thursday night’s girls hoops showdown between the top two teams in the Fox River Classic Conference.

Grzesk was unstoppable in the first half, scoring 35 of her game-high 39 points, including hitting seven three-pointers. Grzesk and the Triton offense were able to move the ball and get consistently good shots from the start, while the Triton defense kept the Raider offense off balance, with North struggling to get good looks at the basket all night.

Notre Dame began the game with a 15-2 run, and led 22-6 before back-to-back three-pointers by the Raiders' Sarah Shear and Anna Fogle made it a 10-point game at 22-12 with 9:53 remaining in the first half. That was as close as North would get for the rest of the game.

The Tritons answered with a 16-0 run to take a 38-12 lead with 7:22 left in the half, and went into the break with a decisive 58-21 advantage.

Notre Dame came out firing in the second half, going on a 14-0 run to extend its lead to 72-21 with 14:07 left in the game. The Tritons would build their lead to as high as 57 at 80-23 with 10:57 remaining, and would coast the rest of the way for the 89-36 win.

Grzesk played only five minutes in the second half, but still finished with 39 to lead all scorers. The Tritons' Sydney Whitehouse scored 11 second half points to finish with 16 for the game.

Notre Dame was able to keep North’s dynamic duo of Fogle and Victoria Toeller in check, as Fogle led the Raiders with 10 points and Toeller had seven. The two All-FRCC performers were averaging a combined 36 points per game coming into Thursday’s matchup.

North (9-8, 8-3 FRCC) will look to bounce back in a road matchup against Green Bay Preble on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Notre Dame (14-1, 10-0 FRCC), meanwhile, will try to keep its perfect FRCC record intact when it travels to Pulaski the same night.
