SHEBOYGAN — The Appleton West Terrors used a strong running game and suffocating defense to defeat the Sheboygan North Raiders 28-6 in Friday night’s Fox Valley Classic Football Conference matchup.

North (1-2) will face Sheboygan South (1-2) next Friday at South in the battle for Sheboygan.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Appleton West struck first after a botched snap and 17-yard-punt set up the Terrors at the North 23-yard-line.

Sophomore running back Ben Vallafsky finished the short drive with a 5-yard touchdown run, and a successful two-point conversion gave West an 8-0 lead.

The Terrors added a second score before halftime after another bad snap by North resulted in a West fumble recovery at the North 26. Cayden Bell’s 6-yard touchdown catch gave West a 14-0 lead at the break.

The Terrors controlled time of possession in the second half behind a dominant offensive line, and the running of Vallafsky, Ira Johnson and quarterback Jack Hamus. The trio finished with 253 yards on the ground, and Vallafsky added two more short touchdown runs in the half, giving him three for the game.

North finally got on the scoreboard with a 6-yard touchdown reception by Karter Bell as time expired. The play was set up by a 26-yard catch by Evan Spaulding that brought the Raiders inside the red zone for the first time in the game.
