LTC Military Friendly 14 cover

CLEVELAND - Lakeshore Technical College has been named a Military Friendly School for the 14th straight year for its commitment to creating opportunities for veterans.

The Military Friendly designation is determined through public data sources, proprietary data from a survey conducted by Military Friendly, and personal data from surveys of veterans themselves.

Only 36% of schools participating in the 2023-24 survey earned awards for being above standard. LTC not only exceeded standards, it received a gold award, which indicates “leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs for veterans transitioning from military careers to school and satisfying careers as civilians.”

“Receiving this honor year after year is a result of our ongoing commitment to welcoming veterans to learn with us and supporting them throughout their education journeys,” said LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen.

LTC assists veterans on multiple levels, including working with county, state and federal veterans organizations to make sure veterans have access to resources that will ensure their success in college and beyond.

This includes helping veterans apply for tuition assistance, housing allowances, fee waivers and other financial benefits through both the Wisconsin and Federal GI Bills.

In addition, LTC assists veterans in processing state level Retraining Grant Applications, National Guard Tuition Grant Applications and VetEd Reimbursement Grants.

According to its mission statement, Military Friendly is a “standard that measures an organization's commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefit for the military community.”
