CLEVELAND – Applications to Lakeshore Technical College (LTC) have increased 38% since last school year, and have reached their highest level since 2012-13.

“This significant increase in applications tells us lakeshore area residents are not only seeing the value in obtaining an education today, but also doing so close to home,” said LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen. “Many of our students are working and raising families while attending LTC. Being able to gain a high-quality education close by is important to them.”

Overall enrollments for fall have more than doubled those in fall of 2020.

Other reasons for the increase, according to Carlsen, include the guarantee of in-person learning and a streamlined application process that does not require testing or high school transcripts. Unlike most colleges, there is also no application fee.

Applications are still being accepted for fall 2021. For more information on LTC and its programs, visit
