Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday said he was signing an executive order that would push the state’s public health emergency into 2021 and would also extend the face mask requirement.

The face mask order was set to expire on Saturday but will now be extended into January.

Right now, COVID cases are exploding across the state. On Wednesday, a new record was set in Wisconsin with 7,989 cases.

In Sheboygan County, there are 2,563 active cases and 48 people have died. More schools in Sheboygan County are moving to all remote classes. On Wednesday, the Sheboygan Falls School District announced all high school students would move to remote-only learning on Friday.

During his Wednesday news conference, the governor said Republicans should end their lawsuits that are trying to block his COVID orders.
