Kroll was nominated by friend and food bank volunteer Sue Dennis for the show's daily "Spreading Holiday Cheer" segment highlighting community members across the nation.

"Every community has an unrecognized hero, I believe ours is my friend, Liz Kroll. She gives her time, her soul and her heart to those who are hungry in our town," Dennis said in the video. "Liz has never received any recognition for her efforts. She has a heart of gold to make sure nobody goes hungry from COVID in our community."
