SHEBOYGAN COUNTY — The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health shared an update on local COVID-19 vaccination progress Tuesday afternoon.
According to the statement, vaccination distribution is already underway with both Sheboygan County hospital systems and all skilled nursing home/assisted living facilities.
At this time, Sheboygan County remains in Phase 1A of the distribution plan, which can be found here.
Both hospital systems are working within their systems to vaccinate frontline workers and will be issuing second doses as early as this week. Meanwhile, those at facilities are being paired with a pharmacy and some have already had initial vaccine clinics.
The next group to receive vaccines will be essential workers, who are still being determined by the state disaster medical advisory committee.
Those with health conditions that put them at greater risk for COVID-19 complications should contact their healthcare provider, who will work to get patients vaccinated when they are available.
As supply increases, the DPH will communicate any expanded recommendations through daily COVID-19 updates that can be found on their website here.
"The exact date and time in which we move into the next phase of vaccination priority is currently unknown and is subject to change due to the allocation of vaccines to our community," the release states. "As the vaccine becomes more readily available the Division of Public Health will be providing information to the community through our Daily Update and will be keeping the Vaccine section of our website up to date."
