CEDAR GROVE – The University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension: Sheboygan County is holding a field day to explore alternative forage options for soil health and profitability at Double Dutch Dairy, W3653 Hoitink Road in Cedar Grove, on Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m to 1 p.m.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Forage “Cocktail Mixes” following Triticale and Cereal Rye
  • A Systems Approach to No-tilling and Manure Utilization 
  • Winter Cereal Establishment for Higher Spring Yields
  • Higher Fiber Digestibility Improves Animal Performance
  • Corn Silage Inter-planted with Multi-Species Forage Mixes
  • Soil Health and Farm Profitability

The Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers will also be present with information on cost-share programs for on-farm soil health, water quality and conservation practices.
