SHEBOYGAN — The stage for the Feb. 16 primary election mayoral race in Sheboygan has been set as the deadline to file for candidacy ended Tuesday afternoon.
Incumbent Mike Vandersteen will be seeking his third term and is joined by Ryan Sorenson and James W. Tesauro on the primary ballot. Winners of the Feb. 16 primary will advance to the spring general election on April 6.
Six alderperson seats on Sheboygan's Common Council will also be decided on the April 6 election in the odd-numbered districts (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9). Additionally, the seat for District 2 will be elected for a one-year term.
New names to the ballot include John M. Ranieri (District 2), who will run against incumbent Roberta Filicky-Penesky. Mary Lynne Donohue (District 3) and Rose Phillips (District 7) will not be seeking re-election for their respective seats, ushering in newcomers Amanda Salazar (District 3) and Grazia Perrella (District 7), who are both running unopposed.
