The Mead Public Library is located at 710 N. 8th St. in Sheboygan.

SHEBOYGAN – Registration is open for the Mead Public Library Summer Reading Program, which runs May 30-Aug. 7. Through the program, participants can earn rewards and win prizes for reading.

The Summer Reading Program is free and open to all ages, with separate categories for children, teens and adults. Rewards or entries for prize drawings will be earned for every five hours of reading.

Children entering the fifth grade or younger will automatically earn free books, coupons for local restaurants, event tickets and more for reading. After 30 hours, kids earn automatic entry into the Family Fun Grand Prize drawing for a free Pizza Ranch dinner and movie tickets.

For every five hours of reading, kids will also earn tickets that can be redeemed online for a drawing featuring the following prizes: an Amazon Fire tablet, Instax camera, LEGO sets, a Dog Man series set and more. A maximum of six tickets can be redeemed.

Children entering the sixth through 12th grades can also earn tickets for a prize drawing of their choice. Teen prizes include a Nintendo OLED Switch, Kindle Fire HD, Xbox Series S and an LCD HDTV. Tickets can be earned for every five hours of reading up to a maximum of six tickets.

Adults can earn entries to win a telescope, Fire HD8 Tablet, and gift cards from Amazon, Bass Pro Shops, Gaming Generations and Stefano’s Slo Food Market. As with the kid and teen categories, tickets are earned for every five hours of reading with a maximum of six tickets.

All Summer Reading Program participants need a library card to register. Sheboygan Area School District students can also use their Virtual Library Card.

Reading hours will be tracked using the Beanstack app. To sign up, visit meadpl.beanstack.org/reader365 or download the Beanstack app through the App Store or Google Play. The last day to log reading hours is Aug. 7.

Eligible reading materials for kids include books, eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, magazines and newspapers. Teens can choose from books, audiobooks and graphic novels, while adults will have the choice of books, eBooks, audiobooks and graphic novels.
