Robert Williams

Robert “Bob” Williams of Plymouth, Wisconsin, passed away on July 27, 2018 at the age of 93.

Bob was born to James and Bertha Williams in Cedaredge, Colorado, on December 10, 1924. After graduating from Cedaredge High school he entered the Navy, serving aboard the Destroyer DD717. Following his discharge from the Navy he attended what is now Colorado State University, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1950.

On March 20, 1949 he married Helen Fleming, who was also a student at CSU. After they graduated, Bob worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and the Atomic Energy Commission for several years and then for Koehring Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in various capacities from design engineer to Division Manager, including three years managing two factories in England. In later years he served as vice president of Stoelting in Kiel, Wisconsin. After he retired, Bob enjoyed volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for several years.

Bob liked all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, riding spirited horses, water skiing, and playing golf. He was a member of the Men's Club at Quit Qui Oc and also played in the Monday morning golf league, for which he devised a computer program for scoring.

Bob’s survivors include his wife Helen; son David (Louise) of Brick, New Jersey; son Scott (Christy) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and granddaughters Maggie and Allie Williams. He is also survived by one brother, Orville Williams of Cedaredge, Colorado. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Bob was a loving husband and father, and a doting grandfather. He was known for his quick wit, strong work ethic, and love of storytelling.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo, Wisconsin on November 10, 2018, to allow for distant family members to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity UMC for its Tree of Life.
