Glenn M. Schmolze

Glenn M. Schmolze, of St. Germain, Wisconsin, returned to his heavenly home on 7/6/18 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Glenn was born to the late Marvin and Amalia Schmolze (Krumm) on September 12th, 1937 in Sheboygan Wisconsin. Glenn went to North High School where he met the love of his life and soul mate, Audrey Jean Thorsby. They married on June 29th, 1957 and were blessed with a large and loving family. While in high school, Glenn was working as a timekeeper at American Chair. Over the years, Glenn worked diligently to support his growing family and received many promotions, from a timekeeper, time study analyst, cost accountant, assistant superintendent and finally production manager of the American Chair, now known as Thonet Industries, in which he oversaw, at one point 250 employees. At 17 years old, he founded a Sheboygan polka band called the Pepboys, which later changed its name to The Peptones. He was an exceptional accordion player and entertainer and the band played many venues around Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Plymouth and Kohler. The strong desire to be self-employed and the love of the Northwoods prompted the couple to purchase an American Plan Resort in St. Germain Wisconsin in 1975. The resort was called The Leisure Lodge. So they picked up their five children and braved this new adventure, which entailed a great deal of work, tending and maintaining 12 cabins with a supper club. Glenn was often found entertaining his customers with nightly live accordion music.

Together, the couple raised five children with patience, discipline, humility and most importantly, love. Glenn's honesty and integrity won favor in many peoples eyes and he had many friendships over the years.

He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Audrey; his daughters Lisa Trzcinski (Dave Lazarus), Lori Thyssen (Randy), Vicki Sixel (Dave) and Gina Whitaker (Richard), his son Kevin Schmolze of Marion Iowa, his sister Margarette of Sheboygan Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his brother Gary Lee (1946), his father (1978), his mother (1991) and his son Mark (1960). He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and one adopted great grandson.

A memorial visitation will be held celebrating his life at the St. Germain Community United Church of Christ in St. Germain Wisconsin on Friday, August 3rd from 2-4 PM, with a Memorial service at 4:00 PM. Pastor Lu Ferron will officiate the service. Family and friends are invited to participate in the ceremony honoring this great and very loved man. A “cook-out” will follow immediately afterwards at the church. Glenn will be cremated according to his wishes and his ashes will be interred in the family plot at the St. Germain Cemetery.
