Jeanette C. Carlson

Jeanette C. “Jean” Carlson, resident of Sheboygan Senior Community, passed away on May 10, 2018 at the age of 93.

She was born May 18, 1924 in the town of Lima in Sheboygan County, the daughter of the late Cornelius and late Jennie DeBlay.

Jean attended grade school in Hingham, WI, moved to Sheboygan in 1938 and graduated from Central High School in 1942. Employed at the J. C. Penney Co., Schwarz Fish Co. and the Sheboygan Retirement Home (now Sheboygan Senior Community) where she worked for 17 years in the Activities Dept. until her retirement.

On November 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Alton F. Carlson in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1980.

Jean was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Sheboygan: member of the church choir (51 years), Women's Guild (Mary Circle), Mission and Craft groups, Funeral Committee, Quilters Club, and chairman of St. Paul's Greeters for many years. 

She enjoyed music, crafts, flowers, watching birds at her bird feeders, being with her family and friends, and volunteering at the Sheboygan Retirement Home after her retirement.

Survived by daughter Nancy (Richard) Vollbrecht, Pewaukee, WI; son Richard (Judy) Carlson, Oostburg, WI.; granddaughter Kathleen (Stephen Montagna) Romaine, Yardley, PA; grandson Andrew (April) Carlson, Naperville, IL; great-grandson Christopher Hill and his father George Lee Hill, Grayson, GA and great-granddaughter Evelyn Carlson, Naperville, IL. 

Preceded in death by sisters Clara Huenink and Wilma Ludens, granddaughter Kristine Hill, and dear friend Carl Wagner.

A memorial service will be held for Jean at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
