Mary Lou Leonhard

Mary Lou Leonhard, age 68, of Sheboygan passed away Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2018. Mary Lou was born January 25, 1950 in Cass City, MI to the late James and Evelyn (Seurynck) Winchester. On February 7, 1970, Mary Lou was united in marriage to the love of her life, Terry Leonhard. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Terry, son Jason Leonhard of Sheboygan, daughter Christine (Bill) Grunwald of Sheboygan, grandchildren: Thomas Leonhard, Brayden and Evan Grunwald, niece Debbie (Mike) Walsh, and a nephew David Winchester. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry Winchester and a niece Michelle Winchester.

Mary Lou was a deeply loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her friends and family meant everything to her, but it was her deep faith in God that led her life. Her faith in Christ was unwavering and helped keep her spirit strong as her body weakened from Muscular Dystrophy. Mary Lou was strong in spite of her illnesses; she was a Stroke and Breast Cancer survivor. The love Mary Lou shared with her husband Terry was evident in their 48 years of marriage. Her husband Terry’s love for her was equally evident as he spent the last 10 years devoted to caring for Mary Lou as she weakened; their love was unwavering and they were never apart. Their example of loyalty and respect in marriage was the best gift they ever gave to their children. Mary Lou also loved her grandsons deeply; she was always pleased to see and hear about the daily successes of her grandsons Thomas, Brayden, and Evan. Previous to her illness, Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, especially to visit out of state relatives. Spending time with friends was another favorite of hers; she could spend hours with her girlfriends talking and laughing over coffee. Mary Lou especially enjoyed time with her closest friends Sharon and Tony Thiel, and Chuck and Georgia Scheidig. Mary Lou also enjoyed bowling, and was proud of her work outside of the home as a Pharmacy Technician at Roenitz Drug Store. All in all, Mary Lou was a fun-loving, deeply devoted wife, mother, and friend. Her strong faith in God, and special ability to pray and receive God’s Grace through answered prayers, gives comfort to all knowing she rests in the arms of our Lord.

Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S.12th Street, Sheboygan on Thursday from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm. Deacon Rich Gulig will officiate.
