Gloria Piszczek

Gloria Vincenza (Milazzo) Piszczek, of Elkhart Lake, died peacefully Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013 after a short stay at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Gloria was born May 27, 1930 in West Allis, WI to Vincent "James" and Catherine (Balistrierri) Milazzo.  She was a graduate of West Allis Central High School, Class of 1948.

On June 17, 1950 Gloria and Alvin Piszczek were united in marriage at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in West Allis.  The following year their daughter, Peggy Ann was born. The couple made Milwaukee their home where Gloria established her banking career.  She was the Assistant Vice-President of M & I Bank from 1964 to her retirement in1991. During this time she furthered her education at Graduate School of Banking in Madison, WI.

In the mid-seventies Gloria and Al built a home in Elkhart Lake and, after retirement, adopted the village as their full time residency. They enjoyed wintering in Venice, Florida near Gloria’s sister, Nina. Gloria began part-time employment at Younker’s from 1994 to 1998 in the Estee Lauder Cosmetics and fine china departments.  Al preceded her in death on February 27, 1999.

Gloria was an avid golfer and had memberships at Quit Qui Oc Golf Course. She was also a willing volunteer at her church as well as at the voting polls. Her hobbies included painting and traveling extensively. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish.

Above all, Gloria’s passion was her family.  In 1998, she became "great-grandmother extraordinaire" to Sidnee Lauren Perry and Sofia Vincenza Henschel. She truly was the matriarch of the family and enjoyed the role to its fullest.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Ann Perry of Elkhart Lake; her granddaughter, Toni (Jerrod) Henschel of Elkhart Lake; her grandson, Scott (Bethany) Perry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; her two great-granddaughters, Sidnee Perry and Sofia Henschel; her sister, Nina Arzberger of Venice, Florida; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Al, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tony Petersdorff; her brother-in-law, Fred Arzberger; and her beloved golf partner, Jeffrey Henschel.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 94 N. Lincoln St., Elkhart Lake, WI 53020.  Rev. Dan Volkert, Pastor, will be the Celebrant.  A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
