JoAnn Harms

JoAnn Harms, age 70, of Howards Grove, died Wedneswday July 20, 2011 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was born in Howards Grove on February 27, 1941, a daughter of the late William and Anita (Bramstedt) Schwartz. JoAnn was a 1959 graduate of Howards Grove High School.

JoAnn Schwartz and William Harms were united in marriage on July 1, 1961 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Together, the couple owned and operated Harms Bus Company and Schwartz Service Garage.Bill died February 20, 1996. JoAnn continued to be active in Bus company until her retirement in 2008. 

Surviving JoAnn are three daughters; Debra (Tim Ross) Harms of Fair Haven, NJ, Tammy (Steven Gerber) Harms-Gerber of Howards Grove and Billie (Grant) Davey of Howards Grove; her cherished grandchildren, Jonah and Addisyn Gerber, Camille and Annika Ross and Quinn Davey; a sister, Barbara Stoner of Appleton, WI, and a brother; Joseph (Cheryl) Schwartz of Howards Grove; a brother in-law; August Riemer of Sheboygan, a sister-in law and brother-in-law, Laverne (James) Laack of Howards Grove. In addition to her husband and parents, JoAnn was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert.

A gathering and celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held on Saturday July 23, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at Zimmer’s Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center. W2132 Garton Road, Sheboygan. Reverend Michael Dineen will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. Thomas Aquinas North Cemetery, Town of Rhine. Friends may call on the family on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
